Charity funded schemes

We are so grateful for the support and donations we have received for therapy in our 65 years.

Because of this generosity through donations, grant funding or legacy gifts we can offer therapy to children at a reduced cost.

Helping Hand Scheme

We’ve used charitable funding to set up and offer our Helping Hand scheme, to support children by providing subsidised therapy for those who receive no NHS support or any other financial support.

We always want to support as many people as possible, but are limited by availability of funds. So, get in contact with us to discuss your needs before making your Helping Hand application.

What is the eligibility criteria for the Helping Hand Scheme?

Eligibility for the scheme is prioritised on your child’s clinical need, whether we have treated them before or how long it’s been since we last treated them and the therapy they need.

Other key factors for eligibility are:

  • The child is under 18 years old
  • They have a referral letter from a medical professional e.g. consultant or GP
  • Parents/carers receive no other funding (e.g. NHS, insurance, charity etc.) – essentially they are ‘self-funded’
  • can continue therapy activities provided in a home programme once therapy ends
  • can accept limited available appointment times offered by The Bobath Centre

Early Intervention Scheme

Early Intervention (EI) is essentially support from birth for your child. It’s a programme of therapy specifically for babies under 2.5 years old. The sessions are fun, informal and there to support your baby’s early development

For those little ones that we saw under early intervention, we run an EI graduate therapy programme. It’s useful for the toddler to come back in for two more sessions (about 3 to 4 months after the block) to review how it’s all working out and perhaps to adapt or expand on the home programme.

Why is EI so important? Research has shown that the earlier a baby or child receives therapy, the greater the positive impact on the quality of their health.

What is the eligibility criteria for the EI Scheme?

There are some criteria that you need to be aware of to access the scheme:

  • That your child should be 2.5 years old or younger at the date of the first appointment
  • Your child is either in a high risk category (e.g. following traumatic birth) OR has a formal diagnosis
  • You have a referral letter for your child from a medical professional e.g. consultant or GP
  • You and your child are ordinarily resident in the UK

So why not find out more about how you can help us raise more funds to support those needing therapy.
