Clinical audit
This clinical audit report is to provide a transparent account of the clinical services of the Bobath Centre. Clinical audit informs changes in service practice and evaluates the effectiveness of any such changes.
Highlights from our 2021 report:
- Parents continue to regard our services as very family-friendly (as measured on the Measure of Processes of Care). Over the year, 43 children attended for face-to-face therapy, and 80 families used our virtual services.
- The overall proportion of children with very complex needs reduced since last year, however, this must be viewed in terms of the impact of the pandemic, as children with complex needs may have been more likely to be subject to shielding guidelines. Furthermore, the Centre continues to see young babies, and therefore data may be further affected by those attending, who may have complex needs, but are without a diagnosis and are therefore not classified. Children attending with less common dyskinetic forms of cerebral palsy reduced from 23.2% in 2019-20 to 7% in 2020-21.
- Outcome measures that are used and repeated at the end of each block has increased from 11% in 2019-20 to 14% in 2020-21. In 2018, it was agreed that the Canadian Occupational Performance Measure (COPM) would be used on a routine basis for every client, which accounts for the small increase. It is hoped that this number will continue to increase, with a target of 90%.
